Food Charter

The Halifax Food Policy Alliance has created an HRM Food Charter, with community input. A Food Charter is a vision for food built by the community.

We have created a plain language version of the Halifax Food Charter, based on the vision and principles of JustFOOD.

With an HRM Food Charter created, we need everyone to show their support and share their ideas for shaping a stronger, more inclusive food system in HRM. In the coming years, our aim is to work alongside communities and organizations to build tools and resources to collect and share their ideas around shaping a stronger, more inclusive food system in HRM.

FOUR WAYS YOU CAN SUPPORT NOW

  1. Read and sign the HRM Food Charter to show your support for a healthy, just, sustainable food system.
  2. Share your ideas for food in HRM on social media using #hfxfoodcharter
  3. Let your local councillor or MLA know that food matters to you
  4. Lead a conversation to help raise awareness using the Food Charter Discussion Guide
